Put the popcorn away guys ;) Just posting a review as I usually do with my hosts
I got the New Years LET special ($10/yr for 512MB RAM (+512MB Burst), 25GB HDD, 3TB bandwidth).
To the point.
Good parts:
- Had it since January, and even though I don't have it monitored 100% I can't remember having any downtime. Current uptime is 16 days, but that's because I rebuilt it myself.
- I've used it for torrenting, US proxy, running a GMod server, using VNC with a GUI, etc.. pretty much everything and...
- ...never been told I'm using too much CPU or bandwidth or anything like that.
- The few times I've contacted support (3 in total, one issue (see below) and 2 queries) the responses have been really quick.
Bad parts
- The first IP I got (ColoCrossing) couldn't send emails to Microsoft since it was banned (didn't show up on any other blacklists though, just Microsoft's own). I emailed support and they gave me a new IP but that was banned by MS as well (but rather than open another ticket/get a new IP I just sent an email template off to Microsoft and they unblocked it for me within a couple of hours, so I don't know what would have happened if I got another IP)
- The only Debian templates (not sure about the others since Debian is all I use) come with Apache and Sendmail and some other stuff installed, but I like minimal templates with nothing else installed on there so I have to clean it up myself after a rebuild. I emailed support about it and they added a Debian minimal template but it still doesn't work AFAIK.
I don't really care about IO speed, etc.. (although I like the speeds for when torrenting, which I do rarely, only because I can't be bothered installing a torrent client on my laptop) but here's a benchmark for those who do. It's located in Buffalo, NY
